The dock is 900 to 1040 logical pixels wide and about 480 tall, and a 360px vertical stack stretched across it is one long scroll in a short box with the histogram scrolling away from the sliders it serves. That width is two and a half to three of today's columns; this lays the same panels out as three of them.
Deliverable
A second composition of the develop panels for the dock, three columns of equal width side by side, each its own scroll:
InfoPanel,HistogramPanel,FocusPanel. Pinned by construction: not in the sliders' column, so it does not scroll with them.GroupStripaboveAdjustPanel, as in the column. With a group selected this is one screen; with All it scrolls.ComposePanelandTransferPanelin photo mode,SpotPanelin repair,MaskPanelin local. Empty otherwise.Three columns at 900 wide are 300 each, at 1037 they are 346: inside the 280–360 band
PANEL_MIN_WIDTH's note says the sliders stay accurate over. The dock takes this composition only when a third of its width is at leastPANEL_MIN_WIDTH(840px of dock; both scales of the tablet exceed it) and keeps N7's stretched stack below that. Two compositions, not three. The panels are declared twice, once per composition, which is what N8 makes cheap. Declaring each once and positioning by hand in both modes was considered and rejected: a scrolling column is a
Flickable, aFlickable's children are its children, and a panel cannot be in two.Acceptance
Spec:
docs/ui-navigation.mdD-N7 and N9. Blocked on N7 and N8. Gains from N4 (collapsible panels) if that lands first.Removing
blocked: N7 has landed (#51) and N8 (#52) is closed. Nothing of the three-column dock is built yet.
