FR-CULL-6 — Compare and survey. Absent. No side-by-side view, no synchronised zoom or pan.
Why this one matters most of the three
D11 names culling "the core differentiator". FR-CULL-1, -2, -3, -4, -5 and -8 through -12 are built. This is the one with no adjacent machinery at all, and it is also the one that most directly distinguishes culling from browsing.
It is also the third pass of the culling workflow as photographers actually describe it: reject the technical misses, flag the keepers, then rank the near-duplicates against each other — and that third pass is the only one that needs two images on screen at once. Without it, a photographer choosing between four frames of the same moment is flicking back and forth from memory.
Burst grouping (FR-CULL-5) already finds the sets this view exists to compare, so the input is built.
Acceptance
Two-up compare and an n-up survey over the current selection.
Zoom and pan synchronised across panes, so the same eye is checked on each.
Rating, flagging and rejecting work without leaving the view.
Promote-and-demote within a survey set, so the winner can be found by elimination.
Unblocks
#19 — culling on tablet, which has nothing to put on a surface until this exists.
See docs/outstanding.md §2.
**FR-CULL-6 — Compare and survey.** Absent. No side-by-side view, no synchronised zoom or pan.
